WOLVERINE

BAYFIELD HIGH SCHOOL
BAYFIELD, COLORADO

The 1962 Wolverine is proudly dedicated to the boys and girls of Bayfield High
School, who have fought to win the above trophies. The wearers of the Purple and
Gold have maintained a reputation for good sportsmanship. The lessons learned on the
fields and courts are carrying over into good citizenship of many who have gone out
from B. H. S. into adult life. We salute you! Continue to "fight, fight, fight," for honesty and fair play in the game of life.

TO THE BAYFIELD "WOLVERINES" OF 1962

As the school year draws to a close, you are making preparations to take the next
step in the walk of life. Your life as a high school student will have terminated. As
you leave Bayfield High School, you will each take a different path. I sincerely hope
that your experiences in the past four years have prepared you to walk in such a manner that your lives and your community will be richer because of your attitude toward
your fellow citizens.
May you never forget that the richest possessions you may acquire are friends, and
that in order to acquire them, your actions must be governed by certain basic principles. Never say an unkind word about another, be considerate of the feelings of others,
be loyal, and above all - smile.
If I may leave a last word with you, let it be this: Happiness is not found in the
accumulation of dollars. Pride in your friends, yourself, and your community will
bring the greatest happiness that anyone can experience. May your search for it be
fruitful.
Your Superintendent,

HISTORY
The long march toward learning began in September 1950, under the direction of
Mrs. Marach. Of the thirty that began there are only six left of the original class.
These are James Davenport, Vivian Rathjen, Eugene Beaver, Donna Reed, Janet Morrison, and Dan Weddle.
The class was guided through grade school by Mrs. Mair, second grade; Mrs. Ostwald, third grade; Mrs. Kelley, fourth grade; Mrs. Folsom, fifth grade; Mrs. Martin,
sixth grade; Mrs. Smith, seventh grade; and Mrs. Crowell, eighth grade.
Initiation was one remembered event of our freshman year. The freshmen became
much wiser in the ways of high school.
Movies were shown as a class project during the year by the sophomores.
The junior year was a very busy one. The juniors gave the play, ROCKET I HIS
POCKET. Lots of hard work went into the Prom, but all efforts were rewarded Prom
night. The theme was Aloha, Hawaii. Class rings were received this year also.
The big year is now here. Seniors are looking forward to the Junior-Senior Prom,
Sneak Day, and most eagerly awaited of all, Commencement exercises. Prospective
graduates are Judy Tubbs, Richard Snodgrass, Eugene Beaver, Bob Davis, Donna Reed,
Jana Crary, Barbara Sower, David Glenn, Don Ragland, Dan Weddle, Bobbie Jo Roberts,
Ray Frost, Janet Morrison, Vivian Rathjen, Larry Forsythe, Ruth Hotz, and James
Davenport.

CL SS WILLS
I. Judy Tubbs, will my calmness to Wanda Mann.
I, Richard Snodgrass, will my ability to spell to Stewart McCoy.
I, Eugene Beaver, will my ability to make good grades in Math to Lila Cundiff.
I, Bob Davis, will my ability for flattering the teachers to Celina Gilbert.
I. Donna Reed, will my love of good times to Pete Mcinnes; the more the merrier.
Right, Petey?
I. Jana Crary, will my bad habit of saying the right thing at entirely the wrong time
to Shirley Sower.
I, Barbara Sower, will my extreme tallness to Leland Roundy.
I. David Glenn, will my extreme shortness to Stewart McCoy.
I. Don Ragland, will my outstanding weight to him who needs it most.
I, Dan Weddle, will my red hair to Arnold Archuleta.
I, Bobbie Jo Roberts, will my talkativeness to any quiet, shy person.
I, Ray Frost, will my ability to find my way back to civilization to Dickie Trimble.
I. Janet Morrison, will my curly hair to Selma Snodgrass.
I. Vivian Rathjen, will my flats to Mrs. Tubbs.
I, Larry Forsythe, will my neckscarf and my name, Joe College, to Don Gosney.
I, Ruth Hotz, will my grades to Linda McConnel.
I, James Davenport, will my saxophone to Sammy Pinnecoose.

PROPHECY
Bayfield, Colorado
May 20, 1982
Dear Mrs. Parks,
The Class of 1962 has decided to hold a reunion at the Coloradoan Cafe as the guests
of owner David Glenn and co-owner James Davenport.
We regret that Larry Forsythe and Bobbie Jo Roberts, the nation's top twisters in the
early 1960's, won't be able to make the reunion as they are convalescing in the Valley View Rest Home from a severe case of twistitus. They were trying to popularize
a revival of the twist. However, we won't worry too much because they are under the
expert care of Dr. Eugene Beaver and his head nurse, Barbara Sower.
Richard Snodgrass has monopolized the strawberry market with his sensational new
strawberry the Red Rich.
Vivian Rathjen, world-famous opera singer, won't be able to attend as she is on tour
in France.
Jana Crary will fly here from New York where she has become quite well-known for
her famous million-seller, "How to Get the Best Out of Your Life."
Wealthy Judy Tubbs, grower of prize-winning sheep and recent winner of the Mrs.
Sheep Grower of America title, will honor us with her presence, accompanied by her
assistant, Janet Morrison.
Ruth Hotz, director of the Bell Telephone Company, will present free calls to the
members of the class so that they can visit with Bob Davis and Dan Weddle, who are
on a safari in deepest, darkest Africa in search of Don Ragland, who still doesn't believe in going to college.
The former Donna Reed, now mother of ten girls, has taken over the family filling
station to help support her family.
Yours truly,
RAY FROST
President of the F.B.I.
