SENIOR O..ASS HISTORY
We began our school days in 1943. Mrs. Sheilds was our teacher. Bill Squires entered from
Breen at Christmas.
The next year we really thought we were big because after all, we could run over the first
graders. Our teacher was Mrs. Mohney.
The Third grade was uneventful except for learning how to do short division and multiplication.
Our teacher was Mrs. Walker.
The Fourth grade was quite a mixed up year. We had no less than five teachers. They were
Miss Small, Mrs. James, Mrs. Knickerbocker, Mrs. Walker, and Mrs. Butler. Wayne Martin,
Gordon Powell, Romona Tanner, David Percell, Myrtle Harris and Sondra Carmack were promoted
from the third grade. Wanda Peterson entered from Marvel.
The next year we had Mrs. McCreery. We all thought she was pretty rough for making us
learn our states and capitols. David Neuenschwander entered from California and Dora Harper
from Kansas.
In the sixth grade we had Mrs. Crowell. We all liked her because she would let us go out
to play ball when we got our work done. We were pretty proud because we were the first class
to go to school in the Gym. Roy Kelly entered at the first of the year and left at the end.
In theseventhgradewehadMrs.Smith. We thought she was rough compared to Mrs. Crowell,
but on the whole I think we all liked her pretty well. LaVonne McCoy, Barbara Wommer, Freda
Beuten, and Floyd Weddle entered from Columbas, and Lee Condiff came from Ben Springs. Dora
Harper left at the end of the year. Romona Tanner also left and went to Farmington. ancy McKinney entered at Cllristmas from Ignacio.
Well, we finally made it to the Eighth grade. We were Lords over the whole grade school.
This was really an exciting year, because the boys learned to dance. Floyd Weddle went to Durango
and Billy Chadd entered from Dove Creek. Junior Tafoya entered that year.
We didn't feel so brave when we entered high school (that is for a while anyway) until after
initiation. That cold, stringy spaghetti nearly killed the girls. J o Ann Powell entered from Silverton and Billy Chadd joined the Navy. Gordon Powell left at the end of the year.
Our Sophomore year we really thought we were big because after all we had a whole year of
high school experience behind us. Mrs. Martin was our sponsor, and I don't think any of us will
forget those Chili Suppers we served all year after Ball Games. J o Ann Powell went to Arizona
and Gordon Powell went to Durango. Sondra Carmack went to California.
Well, we finally became Juniors and we had to start concentrating on the Banquet and prom.
The seniors came near being served Sauer kraut and weiners after we went out of our way to
elaborate decorations. Our sponsor was Mrs. Martin. Nancy McKinney left at Christmas and
went to Carlsbad, New Mexico.
We are finally seniors and are looking forward to the day when we will get our diplomas.
We are also looking forward to our senior trip, and Oh I what a time we will have. Mr. McTaggart
is our sponsor. Charles Oliver left at the end of last year to attend school in Texas. Gayle
Boulden also went Back East to be married. She will graduate with us at the end of the year.

OUR PROPHECY
One of the outstanding events in 1965 is the CATlLE BOWL game played between
the Falfa F owls and the Gem Village Stones. The coaches of these two outstanding games
are Don (Fumble Fingers) McCoy and Dave (Lightening) Neuenschwander. Anything goes
in this game.
The news just came over the AP that Barbara Wommer has just been presented with
the tail of her first bull. You'll all remember when she accepted the position, directly
after graduation, as secretary to EL Capitan, the great bullfighter, and learned the trick
of the trade so thoroughly from her former employer that she became Mexico's top woman
bullfighter.
Elmer Beebe, finder of vast oil and gas reserves, recently completed a 200 ,000
ft. wildcat we ll, producing 30 barrels of salt water and 1 barrel of seaweed, but the thing
that makes him the West's
richest man is parafusulia and psuedo-oolite, rare fossil
specimens fro m the depths of the unknown.

As Betty Mcintyre climbs out of her helicopter we see she still has the looks that
won her the title of Miss Wolverine of 1955. Her beauty tempts the best of men and
she's completely filled her ambition of becoming an R.N. (Recent Newlywed) by announcing her 13th marriage yesterday.
The first flight was made to the moon this year by Flash Gordon's younger brother
Spark Gordon (Powell) who designed the ship. The nation's first rocket hostess is the
lovely LaVonne McCoy. The talentedMissMcCoydesigned her own space suit consisting
of a spiral headpiece and a 7 piece outfit lined with duck feathers so she can paddle like
the devil in case they land during the rainy season on the moon.
Imagine their amazement when they found Dick Wells raising eleflus, a cross
between an elephant and a fly, for the benefit of the heavy drinkers who always claim
they see pink elephants flying by. They'll be liars no more. Powell consented to take
one of the eleflus, back to the earth and the great Professional Businessman of our
times, James Sower, promoted them. Sower did such a terrific job that AA had to limit
them--one to every bar.
David Percell, architectural engineer, has designed the underground hospital for
the convenience of those who pass on. Though this was a brilliant scheme, he is now
peddling papers, being sued for all he was worth by the morticians for putting them out
of business.
The mad scientist, Warren Hill, has just published his latest book, HOW TO EVOLVE
FROM AN APE TO A MAN IN ONE CLEAN SHAVE. His book was a best seller among
the apes but was never acclaimed by man because the truth hurts.
Wanda Peterson, having received her M.R.S. degree, deprived Lee Cundiff, truck
driver, of his Bachelor's degree. They followed the moving vans for years teaching
"Families on the Travel" have now settled down to the metropolitan life of teaching
"Driver's Training" to the students of B.H.S.
Bill Squires, Wayne Martin and George Wiser have returned from Africa where
they have civilized the masses forming the largest ranch in the world. Who are all
these people following them off the steamship? Why it's their harem, of course. But
among all these dark beauties one shining blonde head catches our attention. These men
attribute their success to their capable secretary, Freda Beuten. She has settled all
harem disputes and her clever business dealing has kept them out of trouble more than
once.
Leonard Peterson is also another one of the foreign travelers. For it seems he
has gained as much fame as Bobby Feller in the world of Baseball. And is now coming
home from a season of touring the foreign countries.

Bayfield High School's Wolverines supported by
an almost 100 per cent turnout of the student body
backers beat Saguache 21-13 to go into the state
six-man football Class B semi-finals.
Bayfield met Crowley in the quarter-finals, but
lost by a small margin of six points. The Wolverines
were out-played during the first half of the game
but came back at the half with lots of new spirit to
nearly come out on top.
